Plasmapheresis

Plasmapheresis is the process by which the plasma component of blood is separated in a specialized machine while all the other components of blood are returned to the body. The whole process takes place within an enclosed sterile environment.

The volume of plasma that is collected from the donor is defined based on the donor weight. Donors are monitored continuously by trained medical professionals who will ensure maximum comfort and safety during the donation process. A typical plasma donation takes approximately one hour.

The collected plasma is known as “source plasma”. which is used as the raw material for further manufacturing into lifesaving plasma therapies.
